Smells Like A Return….

I have a REALLY fun musing for your today with it being around the holidays. We all get gifts and do returns through the season so it made me think about returns in general. Returns always makes me think of this one friend I have, I adore her she is always dressed to the 9’s pure perfection. However I do not think I have ever seen her wear the same outfit twice, ever. In all my years which is at least 20… or more I can maybe recall 1 or 2 duplicate pieces in her entire wardrobe not including jeans and shoes.

Now being southern ladies we have never really discussed such things; we just had our lunch dates and shopped talked smack about the neighbors, etc. Funny enough in all the years while I had been to her different homes, I had never actually seen her closest… until recently. I noticed it was a lovely curated closet, nothing like my jam packed closet, deep eye roll and sigh. It had just a capsule set of clothing for the season, nothing from years prior which seemed odd to me. I asked her about it and she told me she only bought what she needed for the season, and with all the moves it was better to travel light, laughed it off and we left. As I fixated on this idea of a smaller capsule closet, I realized she always returned items when we go shopping. While I never really paid attention as it was always just a piece or two, that was either two small, too big, didn’t match… etc; the usually reason you would return an item. Then it hit me and I realized she returns everything! Wears it once and returns it. Nothing was ever kept or retained to make a wardrobe, ugh that is cheating! The rest of us buy things and wear them as loved pieces not rent them for the week and return them.

I started to realize this is why she shopped so many places, 2-3 pieces here and there no one would ever suspect a thing. Exchange it next seasons top or skirt now you have all new items with a new 30 day policy. Then I started to realize this is what the influencers are doing to sell stuff online at Amazon and Like It Love while making money every time you click and buy it. They buy it try it on in mirror and then return it being a Prime member but make the money on you! They even have 30 days to wear it once and return it before the time runs out. I was just disgusted, no wonder some of the online stuff smells and looks like ass when you get it. Don’t even get me started on the teens doing this with mommy and daddies charge card on file, our local UPS store looks like Goodwill with the returns, especially around prom and homecoming season the dresses in there are crazy!

Overall I think this is just a gross thing, or maybe it is just me as I do not really buy second hand items like this, nor do I shop at thrift stores, garage sales or on the ever popular Facebook market place. While I am sure they are just fine, there is just a part of me that thinks these things belong to a dead person or what if something tragic happened in this outfit? Probably irrational but I do not really want other people’s leftovers just for a lower price. I also think it is sad to watch parents today only buy used clothes for their kids that are second hand; which is very popular these days. I get it kids especially boys are hard on clothes and run though them, all the more reason to buy new, yes? Kids not ever getting something brand new just seems wrong in way as if they were never good enough. I mean most of the population has either adopted or had fertility treatments just to have a child, which is expensive now you are going to cheap out on the clothes and toys they get? Really? Seems backwards to me….

Anyway I just thought this musing was interesting as you watch all these assholes on social media post about going on trips to give “experiences” for the holidays verses material gifts. Meanwhile they are returning all the clothes they wear once back to the local Amazon return center on the corner. So if you check their closet all they own is crusty selection of Disney t-shirts they paid 3 prices for and custom made ones with their family name on it for the photos. All the dresses and party clothes…. oh those all went back unless you spilled on them! Got cha losers!

It blows my mind how these shit bouncers that appear to living on top of the world, are just so cheap. Driving the latest greatest leased car, with newest Iphone, and fancy designer handbag (because we keep those and re-sell them online) Mean while the children are wearing second hand “market place” or thrift store purchases that are washed in Laundry Sauce to make them smell good. If the older kids get new stuff they wear once and return it via Amazon Prime in that 30 day window, glad I am not a small or size 2 or 4 you probably would get crabs or scabies. I wonder if Amazon provides a cleaning service, if not they should….just sayin’

Does This Shirt Smell Funny?
