What the FLOCK?

You know I just have to write about all the recent “activity” with the FLOCK cameras, because I will of course have an opinion about it. Since I indeed have asshole which means I also have an opinion about everything! So it seems that some unsavory police officers have been using the camera systems for personal use and tracking their ex’s, among other people of interest without proper cause which becomes stalking. NOOOOOO you don’t say? People with the ability to watch other people and track their every move might be using this technology for things not on the up and up? Astounding… ground breaking….. I am shocked! As if, que my deep eye roll that you love so much.

First of all, let me say I am not surprised by any of this and for those of you that are congratulations, did it hurt when you feel off the turnip truck and smack you your head? It is only human nature that a “bully of a cop” with an ego the size of Texas, which are generally the only people that you can pay that low of salary to actually do what that job would want to see where and who their ex wife is seeing. It also gives them “flex” to put extra power over people to again try to bully them into things if they can catch in “stuff” which may not be illegal but could cause issues or be black mail-able in other circumstances. So essentially you get what you pay for folks. As a very unpopular opinion it is not like we paid our public servants well, fire rescue, police and EMS are really horribly underpaid considering what they actually do by comparison to pro athletes or movie stars. Maybe if the roles were reversed? There is some musing food for thought, what if we actually paid the true heroes a superhero sized salary verses the guy running a football down the field or kicking a soccer ball around, IDK. Maybe make an example out of actual living legends verses things that AI could technically replace one day, just sayin’. Not sure AI is going to catch the criminals, put a fire out on your home or restart your heart.

That being said it makes sense why you have this kind of thing happening. Now it you really dive in to FLOCK company and check out the capabilities of the cameras, which are being installed everywhere these days it might really make you cringe. While yes they are LPR trackers and you can can find and tag specific vehicles in cases of kidnapping, trafficking, outstanding warrants, etc. They also have the ability to be upgraded for facial recognition, blue tooth tracking, and can essential be able to pull down information just by passing by them. While those particular options may or may not be in use currently every unit is made with them inside and only take a flip of switch to be operational. This information is actually available on the FLOCK website. It is a selling point for those looking to install the cameras, maybe for office buildings, apartment complexes, and neighborhood HOA’s. Another interesting thing is when you choose to sign a contract with the company they dictate where the cameras are placed, so it they are close to apartment, home or residence and the in act that Bluetooth option does that mean they just pull down every thing in your home too? I mean I don’t love the idea of some asshat being all up in business all the time, just so we track down illegals and missing kids maybe keep those on the highways.

Currently many states are starting to remove or outlaw the FLOCK cameras like California for example due to infringement of rights. Also they have all the best lawyers looking at those contracts so they already know what they rest of you dumb asses don’t. They are going to watch everything, all the time and you won’t have peace. So the question is did your local municipality drink the Kool-Aid? Are they already watching you, targeting you and just covering it up? Have you been FLOCKED? Have you checked? How deep does it go? All great musings right, mainly just food for thought; because as everyone keeps saying if your not doing anything wrong you don’t have anything to worry about……right?
