Copying, A Sincere Form of Flattery?

So my entire life I have always been a trend setter. I have always paved my own way and never followed in the path of others, which is truly what makes you a trend setter. As my life has grown and moved forward this has always been very lucrative for me. I do get asked all the time if it bothers me when others copy what I am doing? My answer over all the years has always been “No, I share my ideas and choices in order to lead the world into better taste and decisions.”

However, as of late I have started to notice a lot of cheap knock offs, and not the designer handbag from china knock offs. This is the type that is trying to do a similar concept, but stealing my ideas to do it. Now I always, always aired on the side of copying is the sincerest form of flattery. However, this new trend of “little untalented Tik Tok burnouts” that are not really talented they just wait for the hot trend and then copy as quickly as they can via social media, acting like it was there idea all along. “Laughable at best, you might want to check your time date stamps deary, those do not lie; just like an expiration date which is written all over you!

Let me define a carbon copy for a second, it is where you take an original and duplicate it over and over using a carbon paper. The more it is duplicated from the original form the blurrier it gets, the less definition the lines have until it is almost unrecognizable. So you have basically taken a great idea and bastardized it into oblivion.

It is the same way I feel about “Rebooted” movies, television series or recasting of roles. You will never be able to fill the originals shoes, so why try? In fact stop trying, and actually create something new, or do you not have any talent to actually do that? Okay I know that is harsh, I will say there have been very few reboots that I I actually like, but mainly because the original is so old it needs to be updated into a current setting. However nobody needs 3,000 reboots of Batman or Spiderman, that is just dumb and such a waste of money at this point, just quit rebooting those please, they only get worse as we go along.

I remember in my teens and early twenties, I had this “friend” that copied everything I did as if she wanted to crawl inside of my skin and become me. Same hair cut, same outfit, same perfume; we could have been twins at some points until you looked at our faces. My mother always told me “it was a sincere form of flattery”. I was friends with her for a very long time, off and on, way into my early thirties, up until I realized she was trying to seduce my husband! Although he had no interest at all and viewed her more like a sister; clearly she did want to crawl inside of my skin and just take over my life! That was indeed a very unhealthy relationship that needed to end at that point. It seemed that our household had boundaries in our lives, but this individual did not. Thruples are absolutely not are thing; and from what I hear from other friends, never work out. So, it was never going to be like that little Hollywood fantasy either.

Yes the whole thing was like a very scary concept, like a murder mystery plot you might see on television! Like I have said, I have friends in the business and most of these plots are based on real life scenarios, you can not make this shit up, and actual reality is certainly more interesting.
